A Taste of Mozambique

After a special chef's trip to Mozambique with CARE, I had the pleasure of turning recipes into fun, graphic visuals and recipe cards.

MET merch

In early 2016, the Metropolitan Museum of Art rebranded and released a new logo. Therefore, all their gift shop items and apparel needed to be redone to fit the new design. I've worked with them on preparing packaging and merchandise featuring famous pieces of art, artist quotes, MET branding, and designing the new "YIELD TO THE ART" line, which comes from the iconic signs inside the Museum.

2017 State of Global Partnerships Report

This report was made for Global Partnerships Week to highlight the 17 different sustainable development goals and partnerships. 

Each partnership page matches the SDG icon to serve as an organizational design feature.

Scale x Design

Care had the need for a sub-brand, "Scale X Design" for an unique accelerator program that brought artists and creative thinkers together to help vote on teams to win a grant to take their innovation to scale. 

The goal for the design was to be bold, fresh and colorful, yet fit under the umbrella organization, Care. Together, with the in-house design department, we created a series of colorful logos and graphics for this sub-brand that can be applied to several different future events.

Colin Quinn, the New York Story

The hysterical comedian and actor, Colin Quinn had an off-broadway show at the Cherry Lane Theatre in NYC. I was asked to create a poster that represented an old school NY newspaper cover, with quotes relating to his show.

ONE. TEAM. ONE. MISSION.

This special USAID book was absolutely one of my favorite projects to be apart of. This book was released as a celebration of the departure of previous USAID administrator, Dr. Rajiv Shah. With a very successful administration, this book showcases the accomplishments and impact made throughout the years.

We created map break pages that feature highlights of each corresponding section.

USAID Forward Report

USAID released their first annual Forward Progress Report to capture the progress of the programs and developments. This required many infographics and accurate renderings of money spending. Because of how content heavy this piece is, each section of the publication is marked by a unique color where the top right tab navigates the reader throughout.

With this being designed under a very tight deadline, the priority was to focus on the larger graphics such as the two maps and two stats pages, while the rest flowed in a clear consistent way. The main center map was made out of charcoal and then scanned and enhanced digitally using photoshop.

This particular theme was a candy bar, highlighting the story of cocoa farmers.

More Than Me

More Than Me is a non-profit organization that gets girls off the street of Monrovia and into school in Liberia, West Africa. During my trip to Liberia, I witnessed first hand how desperately they need to an acquire an education as a possible road to a better life.

Originally More Than Me had a logo that aimed to show the motto “living for something bigger than yourself”. Therefore, a world and figure with the “more than” sign was created. While they requested a re-brand, they were adamant about keeping the concept and main elements of the previous logo. They wanted something youthful, edgy and more feminine.

Sample projects here include a brand manual, website re-haul  (done both in 2013 and most recently, 2016 - viewable here), publications, postcard series, event posters and t-shirts.

'12 Impact Brief

In emerging markets, eight out of ten small businesses cannot access the loans they need to grow. USAID’s Development Credit Authority (DCA) uses risk-sharing agreements to mobilize local private capital to fill this financing gap. This impact brief is to showcase the progress of the previous year for DCA.

Here, the ferry is being used as a navigation tool for the reader. Matching shadow box posters and extra large banners were created as well, that are hung throughout the USAID building.

Brooklyn Roasting Company

The hip NY coffee shop, the Brooklyn Roasting Company, aims to bring locally roasted, sustainable coffees to their customers. 

While working on their team, we created several new packaging labels, menus, signage, window decals, merchandise designs, vehicle wraps, and proposals. We were also responsible for designing the blueprints of the layout for the new cafe locations.

Napa Valley Transit Authority

The Napa Valley Transportation Authority (NVTA) is a Congestion Management Agency formed in 1998 as a joint effort by the Cities of American Canyon, Calistoga, Napa, and St. Helena; the Town of Yountville, and the County of Napa. NVTA serves as the countywide transportation planning agency. The agency's goals, duties, and composition make it easier for local governments to tackle the increasingly complex problem of traffic congestion.

This campaign was a series of posters and pop up tents with interactive ways for the community to get involved to make suggestions to the NVTA with utilizing bold charts and areas they could add post it notes with ideas.

Sitting Pretty

A friend who started her own company, Sitting Pretty - a pet care service offering walking, training and kennel service needed stationery and marketing materials. 

Since the name was "Sitting Pretty" we wanted to make the logo have that feminine feel, and had the "y" resemble a tail. The business cards had unique backs with different dog breeds. As an animal lover, these subjects were one of my favorites to illustrate.

Hodgkins Law

Created a brand identity system for a new business focusing on estate planning & elder law. Because the client is located in Maine, they wanted to incorporate mountains and water into the design. This is an abstract and modern take on that.

ONE

ONE is a non-profit organization that works to fight extreme poverty and global diseases. During an internship, I designed visuals to advertise for an intern event. This event focused on raising awareness of AIDS, as it was held in the time of the International Aids Conference. These invites were hand delivered to local offices and contributed to the gain of over 200 attendees and advocacy actions. The ink lettering and watercolor illustrations attract a young crowd, while red ribbon elements are used to symbolize the fight against AIDS.

ONE GelaSkin cases were raffled off at the event, and used for the “Make a Quilt Patch” iPads. The design encompassed the digital quilt hosted on the ONE website. This was done using a grid of individual patches submitted from ONE/RED supporters, and their current logo (made by Neville Brody). This product was very well received as they provided a sense of common interest and community.

Additional samples shown here are tote and t-shirt designs, made with watercolor and then edited digitally (sold on their online store). As well as new office decal graphics for the creative department.

NYPNU

While working with New York Professional Nurses Union, we created a series of posters, bus ads, billboards and hand-sanitizer graphics in the iconic "I love NY" style.

Club25

Club 25 International is a youth-oriented non-profit organization that focuses on the benefits of giving blood. Members are integrated into a community that assists them to lead a healthy lifestyle while saving lives. The full site can be viewed here.

Club 25 needed a website that would attract their youthful target audience and highlight the main benefits and concerns of pledging. A blood drop was used as a consistent theme throughout as their icon. Bold colors were chosen with flat vector graphics. A one-page vertical setup was designed so that the user could easily see all the main points for pledging and scroll in an interactive way to get there. Along with the new website, a refreshed logo was made. Using their previous globe design with blood drops, colors were changed along with fonts and scale.

White Sands

White Sands Treatment Center is a new facility opening this year offering detox and alcohol and drug rehabilitation services. This client wanted to stand out from other similar centers by showing bright and vibrant colors to promote a positive future for the individuals joining this program. It was essential that the ads and publication’s design embodied a fresh, modern and peaceful energy.

A logo was created after many iterations, the sun was chosen to represent the sunshine state Florida, where this facility will be opening its doors. Projects here include the overall brochure, business cards, and facility signage.

Dept of State Report

Smart Power

US Global Leadership Coalition requested a logo for a recent campaign, “Smart Power Innovator’s Award”. This project required several logo variations for the award, campaign, and event. It was to promote power and energy while utilizing the colors and logo mark of USGLC.

An arch was also designed for this event, along with a Smart Power “plug-in” poster where people could charge their devices, as well as small signs for Veterans for Smart Power to hold up.

AFT

According to AfBD, the Agriculture Fast Track Fund (“AFT”) builds on previous G8 and G20 commitments by supporting financially sound, environmentally sustainable, and socially beneficial food security projects. “AFT provides grant funds for project development costs such as feasibility studies, market research, financial modeling, business plan development, and environmental and social impact studies.”

This fund was a product of USAID, SIDA & AfBD’s collaboration. The goal for the logo-mark was to show three main factors; agriculture, infrastructure, and Africa. After testing many options involving bridges and agricultural elements, we landed with an outline of Africa and an abstract river/bridge mark with an extracted cut of a growth symbol. It was also essential to show the “fast” element, which is being highlighted in the text. In honor of this new fund, an event was held in Cape May, South Africa where a fact sheet was given out. An invitation and podium design was required for this as well. The video can be viewed here.

Quote Poster (For Fun)

*WARNING - GRAPHIC LANGUAGE

While this poster may not be appropriate for those under 17, this was created as a gift to a friend who loves raunchy comedies and often references these quotes. I had a blast remembering these moments as I experimented with different typographic elements and doodles (minus any guidelines!). The framed poster was a success!

Block Party (Student Work)

Inspired by the quirkiness of New York City, I made a design that humors city living. As New York City offers an endless amount of street festivals and events, NYC Block Party would be a massive event held annually to provide fresh art, music, and different cultures to the city. With this urban theme, the poster was designed to attract locals. The project includes event tickets were designed, as well as a welcome banner, and a unique T-shirt. The look and feel of the design is hand rendered, as the style correlates with the cities’s eclectic culture and honors the roots of many local street artists.

RHCP Set (Student Work)

The Red Hot Chili Peppers are a California-funk band that is energetic and entertaining. While the band’s eclectic style has morphed from punk rock, psychedelic rock and lyrical, their personality has stayed the same over the years. I created an album set for their 30th anniversary. The components are comprised of a 2-disc box set with booklets, a draw-string bag containing the poster, a trucker hat, baseball tee, and a pair of tube socks. The apparel is reminiscent of the band member’s style.

“California Daze” represents the RHCP’s first 15 years of making music, showing beach imagery to represent their roots. “Global” contains 15 tracks from the second half of their career using urban imagery for their expanding career. The illustrations in the poster reference iconic memories and issues the band incorporate in their lyrics.

Limited Edition Packaging (Student Work)

Animal Crackers are a classic treat that have made their way into many childhood memories. These simple treats have been around for years, and are always playful to those who consume them. I created a limited edition tin that celebrates animal crackers as a classic treat that would remind adults of their childhood. For a first time, all 19 animals would be found in one playful package to keep.

The hand-rendered theme of the package gives an even more playful sense of childhood and reflects the old circus nature of the Barnum Company. The tin features fun facts, nutritional information, Barnum’s history, and a fun reference poster of all 19 animals made, with recipe ideas on the back.

Red Bead Project (Student work)

With the ongoing atrocities developing in Darfur, Sudan, I created a campaign, the Red Bead Project under the umbrella organization, the Genocide Intervention Network. Because this issue is close to me, I wanted a visual system that had an impact on the public. The poster series contains depictions of a hand, heart, and a pencil made out of beads.

The concept for the design revolves around the idea that one person can actually make a difference in that every single hand, heart, and message can help stop the crisis. Each wooden bead represents one of the thousands killed in Darfur, and the red bead illustrates the “one” making a difference. Once a person donates, or participates in an advocacy action, they would receive a beaded bracelet.

Haunts (Student Work)

Haunts magazine is a unique publication that showcases different haunted cities and featured stories based on tales and testimonials of the area. As haunted stories and historic places have always been of interest to me, I visited the city Savannah, Georgia and for inspiration and photography.
